So, Who's Oakley?

Several centuries ago, a farmer by the name of Jonathan Oakley owned a very large farm in an area now known as Oakley's Corners. This parcel is located between Owego and Newark Valley, today known as  "Oakley Corners State Forest".

Legend has it that Master Oakley was taking a team of horses, a hay wagon and several farm workers through an unfamiliar section of forest at sunset and suddenly found himself in deep trouble---he had driven into a bog which contained quicksand. Within minutes, all was lost and Jonathan's body was never recovered.

Moving forward in time we find that the bog, still located in the center of a large forest, has now been transformed into a small, man-made lake--yet still maintains the eerie look that it had hundreds of years ago. Each evening you can sit on a large rock as the crows gather in a nearby oak tree to spend the night. Watch quietly as the moon rises over the water and listen as the call of the Great Horned Owl echoes through the darkness........let your thoughts wander back through time.

Seated high atop the knoll, overlooking the swamp where Jonathan Oakley met his fate sits the home of Oakley's Ghost.

We dedicate our music to his memory.
